Public transport...
Two bus routes stop near the church - the 1 and the X84.
Route 1 connects Cottingley to Holt Park, passing through Beeston, Leeds City Centre (stop J3 on Albion Street) and Headingley. Buses are about every 10 minutes, and it takes just under half an hour to get from Leeds City Centre to Holt Lane. The bus stops virtually outside Adel Methodist Church.
Route X84 connects Leeds Bus Station and Skipton, passing through Headingley, Otley, Ilkley and Addingham. From Leeds, buses are every 15 minutes and take about half an hour to get to Adel. You'll have to get off at Otley Road/Greenfield Court, walk a short distance up Otley Road, then turn left onto Holt Lane and right onto Gainsborough Avenue. Coming from Skipton, Ilkley or Otley, you'd have to get the bus to Otley Road/Holt Lane, cross the main road, then follow Holt Lane and turn right onto Gainsborough Avenue. Buses are less frequent in this direction.
